Nagarjuna Opens Up on His Decision of Staying Away from Bollywood for 19 Years, says, ‘I am a Home Bird’

Nagarjuna Akkineni, a superstar of South movies, made a remarkable comeback in the Bollywood industry with Ayan Mukherjee’s Brahmastra. It took as long as 19 years for Nagarjuna Akkineni to hit the big screen in Bollywood. The actor’s last pick from Bollywood was ‘LOC Kargil’, which was released in 2003.

The LOC Kargil’s star, Nagarjuna Akkineni, made his debut in the Bollywood industry with the movie Shiva in 1990. Nagarjuna soon became a popular name in the industry and among the audience, he went ahead and played many iconic roles in movies, like Khuda Gawah, which released in 1992, Drohi, which released in 1992, Criminal, which released in 1995 and Zakhm, which released in 1998.

When asked about why he took almost two decades to make a comeback in Bollywood, Nagarjuna responded “I’d love to do a Bollywood film. But at this point of time, I’m very comfortable with where I am. I am a home bird. I love staying back at my own place.

Talking about his acting trajectory in Bollywood, the actor mentioned that although he’s grateful for all the love and warmth that he has received from the Bollywood Industry, the actor has never craved the feeling of acceptance in Bollywood. The actor firmly stated that although he has worked in the Bollywood industry for a brief period, he is delighted to leave a long-lasting impression on the industry.

The 60-year-old actor also shared a heart-warming incident that took place just after the release of his south Indian movie, titled ‘Wild Dog’ in which he played a ruthless NIA officer. The veteran actor said, “People have shown me so much warmth and grace. Even now, I get phone calls after people see the trailer of my films, asking, ‘Why don’t you release this film in Hindi also?

Nagarjuna Akkineni also addressed the speculations on the release of Wild Dog’s Hindi dubbed version and assured that the dubbed version of the movie will release on a digital platform after some time.

Nagarjuna Akkineni marked a phenomenal comeback in Bollywood with the movie Brahmastra. Nagarjuna played the role of an artist, Anish Shetty, in the movie, who wields the ‘Nandi Astra’.
