Kannada TV actor, Ravi Prasad, popularly known as Mandya Ravi breathed his last on Wednesday in BGS Hospital, Bangalore.
Reportedly, the 43-year-old actor was suffering from a prolonged liver related illness and succumbed to multiple organ failure on Wednesday at the BGS Hospital, Bangalore. The news of his death was confirmed by his father, Dr Mudde Gowda. He is survived by his wife, son, parents and two sisters.
The late actor hailed from Mandya city of Karnataka. Although he was an actor by profession, Mandya Ravi was a law graduate and had pursued his master’s degree in English. Ravi Prasad kick started his acting career as a performer in various theatre groups.
The late actor was a part of Mandya’s most popular theatre groups named Geleyara Balaga and Janadani. The Kannada TV star later made a venture into the television industry and made his debut in T S Nagabharana’s serial Mahamayi. The actor has played iconic roles in many classic serials made by TN Seetharam, including Chitralekha, Yashode, Minchu and Magalu Janaki.
As per the reports, the actor died due to multiple organ failure and had jaundice, too. Ravi was admitted to Bengaluru’s BGS Hospital a month ago, but his condition showed no signs of improvement.
Earlier, the late actor’s father, Dr Mudde Gowda, informed a newspaper that the staff at BGS Hospital had urged Mr Gowda to transfer him back to Mandya as his condition showed no signs of improvement and he wasn’t responding to the treatment, either.
The untimely and sudden demise of the versatile actor left his family, fans and his colleagues from the industry in shock. Netizens paid their heartfelt condolences to the family on all the social media platforms.
Actress Ankita Amar, who recently shared the screen with him in a daily soap, mourned the sudden demise of Mandya Ravi and said “I am numb and shocked hearing the news of Mandya Ravi Sir passing away. It is such sad news to hear. I hope God gives his family members the strength to recover from his loss. Also, the industry has lost a fine artist and Mandya Ravi Sir will be missed.”
According to the media reports, the last rites of the iconic actor will be held in Kallahalli situated near Mandya on Thursday.
