The Kapoor Family
The big Kapoor Family is also the oldest in Bollywood. It started with Prithviraj Kapoor 1926 who was a theatre actor and worked in movies later. His eldest son Raj Kapoor created his studio- R.K. Films. Raj Kapoor then launched Randhir Kapoor in the movie ‘Kal Aaj aur Kal’ and Rishi Kapoor in ‘Bobby’. Well, he was the one who began the era of actresses wearing bikinis. However, females in his family were not permitted to work in movies. Even Babita and Neetu had to leave their career after marriage. Karisma was the first daughter to do it whereas Karisma, Kareena, and Ranbir are the 4th generation of the tree.
The Bachchan Family
Well, two generations of this family have been in Bollywood. However, the family is a very prominent one because of the megastar- Amitabh Bachchan and the former Miss World, and one of the world’s most beautiful women- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Amitabh was married to Jaya Bhaduri in 1973. They have 2 children-Abhishek and Shweta. Abhishek and Aishwarya were married in 2007 and have a 3 years-old daughter Aaradhya. Shweta Bachchan is married to Nikhil Nanda, who is Raj Kapoor’s maternal grandson.
The Bhatt Family
This family consists of three generations in Bollywood. Mahesh Bhatt’s father Nanabhai Bhatt was a popular Gujrati and Hindi filmmaker. He and his second wife Shirin had 5 daughters and 4 sons. Mahesh Bhatt also married twice. His second wife Soni Razdan (Alia’s mother) is half-german. Well, people say, this is one complicated family and it is difficult to understand how exactly each one of them is related. Further, Emran Hashmi is a third cousin of Alia Bhatt.
The Salim Khan Family
Again, this family is one of the most well-known families in Bollywood. Salman Khan being in court cases, blockbuster movies, and human work, the family is always in the headlines. His father, Salim Khan himself is an actor and screenwriter. He has four children with 1st wife Sushila Charak (Salma, after marriage)-Salman, Arbaz, Sohail, and Alvira. He married Helen in 1981 without divorcing his 1st wife. They started living in a separate house after the wedding and they later adopted Arpita. Salma took care of 4 children on her own. At present, everyone is staying in the same house. Everyone in this family has inter-religion marriage. Sohail Khan is married to Seema Sachdev(a fashion designer) and they have two sons, Nirvaan and Yohan. Arbaz and Malaika Arora Khan have a son – Arhaan. Their sister Alvira is married to Atul Agnihotri.
The Akhtar-Azmi Family
As known, Javed Akhtar is a famous poet, lyricist, and scriptwriter. Again, his work was carried out with Salim Khan as a duo Salim-Javed. However, his first wife is Honey Irani with whom he has two children-Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar. Her sisters are Daisy Irani and Meneka Irani who is the mother of Sajid Khan and Farah Khan. Daisy Irani is also an actress. Shabana Azmi is Javed Akhtar’s second wife. The cinematographer Baba Azmi is Shabana’s brother and Tanvi Azmi is her sister-in-law.
The Khan-Roshan Family
Rakesh Roshan is a producer, director, and former actor. His brother Rajesh Roshan is a music director who does music only for his movies. Their father Roshan was also a music composer of Hindi movies. Rakesh Roshan launched his son Hrithik with the movie Kaho Na Pyar Hai with which he became a star overnight. At present, Hrithik is amongst the most good-looking and successful actors in Bollywood. Right after the success of his first movie, he married his girlfriend Suzanne Khan. However, they are divorced at present after 17 years of relationship. Hrithik’s sister Sunaina is a cervical cancer survivor and has been chosen as one of the top 11 inspirational stories since 1984.
The Mukherji-Samarth Family
These two families were tied with the marriage of Tanuja and Shomu Mukherjee. The Mukherjee family in Bollywood was started by Sashadhar Mukherjee while the Samarth family was commenced started by Rattan Bai in the 1940s. Women of the 4 generations in the Samarth family have been in the acting field- right from Rattan Bai to Shobhna Samarth to Nutan and Tanuja to present-generation Kajol, rani and Tanisha. Sashadhar Mukherjee had 5 sons-Rono, Joy, Deb, Shomu, and Shubir and they were all in Hindi/Bengali movies as producers, directors, music composers, or actors. The 3rd generation members of the Mukherjee family in Bollywood include Ayan Mukherjee, Sharbani Mukherjee, Rani Mukherjee, Tanisha Mukherjee, and Kajol.
