From Being a Lyricist in Tajikistan, He Became the ‘Chota Bhaijaan’ of BB16 : The ascent of Abdu Rozik

Tajikistani musician and performer Abdu Rozik has been winning the internet with his innocence and cuteness on Big Boss season 16. Abdu Rozik was the first contestant of Season 16 who was introduced by Salman Khan during the premiere of the show. During the episode, Abdu captivated the audience and the host of the show, Salman Khan, with his melodious rendition of “Dil Deewana Bin Sajna Ke” from the movie ‘Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya’, which was a classic Bollywood blockbuster of the late 80s era starring Salman Khan and Bhagyashree.

The 19 year old internet sensation, Abdu Rozik, who has entered the most controversial reality show of India, Big Boss, was born in 2003 in a gardener family of Gishdarva collage in Tajikistan. Abdu is a lyricist, he rose to fame with his Tajik rap song ‘Ohi Dili Zor’. Abdu has his own YouTube channel, called Avoid Media, with more than 550k subscribers. Abdu has etched his name in the world book of records for being the world’s smallest singer.

While he was a child, Abdu was diagnosed with a condition of hormone deficiency called rickets. Due to lack of financial resources, he couldn’t receive the treatment which ended up stunting Abdu’s height at the age of 5 years. According to the reports, Abdu is 18 years old and weighs only 15 kgs. Abdu recently opened up on BB16 about being bullied in school for his height while he was a child. The musician also revealed that he comes from a middle class background and has struggled a lot to sustain his life.

Along with being a lyricist and a singer, the 19 year old Abdu Rozik is also an MMA fighter. Abdu recently opened up about choosing boxing as a career. He mentioned that he was bullied in school, so in order to show that he was a tough guy, he took up boxing. Abdu attended his school for only 20 days. According to the reports, he is currently learning to read and write. Abdu rose to fame after his prompt singing videos went viral on the internet. The ‘Chota Bhaijaan’ of Big Boss season 16 met a lot of national and international celebrities.

Abdu started singing at an extreme young age of six years. He used to sing on the road to financially support his family. His destiny took a turn when he was spotted singing by a Tajik blogger-rapper, Baron. Abdu shifted to Dubai with Baron and started exploring the musical arena. Some of his famous Tajiki tracks include ‘Ohi Dili Zor’ which was released in 2019, ‘Chaki Chaki Boron’ which was released in 2020 and ‘Modar’ which was released in 2021.

From being bullied in school to making a Bollywood debut, the trajectory of Abdu Rozik has been a moving one. The singing sensation of Tajikistan is currently locked in the Big Boss house and is winning the internet with his charm and innocence.
