On Wednesday, June 22, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) filed draught charges against actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty in the drug case associated with actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. Public prosecutor Atul Sarpande brought the accusations before a Mumbai special court.
Furthermore, the prosecution has asked the court to file charges against the actress and her brother for consuming narcotics as well as for purchasing and paying for them on behalf of SSR. According to Atul Sarparde, the court was supposed to file charges against every defendant, but it was unable to do so since a handful of the defendants filed release requests.
According to the court, the charges against the defendant in the drug case won’t be decided until after the discharge pleas have been resolved. On Wednesday, the actress appeared in court alongside her brother Showik and other defendants. The case was set for hearing on July 12 by special judge V G Raghuwanshi.
On June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput’s body was discovered at his home in Bandra. Millions of people were devastated by the actor’s untimely death. Separate investigations into the death of SSR were also conducted by the Enforcement and Narcotics Control Bureaus. Rhea, who was at the time dating SSR, was detained in connection with the incident and eventually given bail by the Bombay High Court. Rhea has remained under the radar since leaving prison. She is active on Instagram, where she frequently posts images of yoga and other motivational phrases.
Rhea recently posted new pictures of the late actor on Instagram and wrote a statement for him on the occasion of the second anniversary of his passing. “Miss you everyday,” she said with the pictures that she posted.
