John Cena Ties Knot With Wife Shay Shariatzadeh For The Second Time
Wrestler turned actor John Cena and his wife Shay Shariatzadeh got married a second time in Vancouver on Friday. The happy couple originally exchanged vows on October 12, 2020, at an attorney’s office in Tampa, Florida. After a postponement due to the pandemic delaying their plans, they were finally able to walk down the aisle.
John Cena and Shay were spotted entering the venue, with the WWE wrestler wearing a navy suit and the bride wearing a backless white gown. In addition to being Shay’s birthplace, Canada is also where the bride and groom met. They were first seen together on a dinner date in Vancouver in March 2019, where John was filming Playing With Fire.
A year before they got married, John gushed to Entertainment Tonight, “What’s truly special about this (movie) is that, no matter what projects I’m involved in the future, this one will always have a special meaning because I got to film a special project and meet someone special.” In a whirlwind romance, the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony in Tampa, Florida the following year.
Earlier this year, the Suicide Squad star opened up to Drew Barrymore about whether or not he wants children. After she suggested that he would be ‘the world’s greatest father’ he reflected, “This is just my perspective totally not qualified but I think just because you might be good at something, for me, is not a strong enough reason to do that.”
Fast and Furious actor went on to say, “You have to have passion for it. You have to have fuel for it. It’s like saying to someone, ‘Man, you know you are pretty good with your hands. You would be a great carpenter.’” Cena added, “It’s hard work. It’s hard work to balance the time, I need to run myself correctly. It’s hard work to be the best partner and husband I can be to my loving wife. It’s hard to keep connections with those in my life that I love. And it’s also hard to put in an honest day’s work.”
