Adipurush makers to shave off Saif Ali Khan’s beard in the film after receiving flak?

Earlier this month, the makers of Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Adipurush’ announced a new release date on social media. The film, which was previously scheduled to hit the screens on January 12, 2023, will now release on June 16, 2023.

The film has been mired in controversy ever since its teaser was unveiled. The teaser courted major backlash over the looks of Saif’s fierce Ravana/Lankesh who is shown sporting a beard and a buzz cut. Many people across the country slammed the makers for allegedly hurting their religious sentiments.

Now, as per reports, the makers have decided to shave off Saif’s beard digitally.

It was also reported that the team will be spending an additional Rs 100 crore to improve the film’s VFX.

‘Adipurush’ is being made on a budget of Rs 450-500 crore and this hike has made it one of the most expensive Indian films ever.

Director Om Raut released a statement while announcing the film’s new release date. He wrote, “Adipurush is not a film, but a representation of our devotion to Prabhu Shri Ram and commitment towards our sanskriti and history. In order to give a complete visual experience to the viewers, we need to give more time to the teams working on the film. Adipurush will now release on June 16th, 2023. We are committed to make a film that India will be proud of. Your support, love and blessings is what keeps us going.”

Talking about the film’s story, it focuses on Raghava, who travels to Lanka with his sena which includes Laxman and Hanuman to rescue his wife Janaki from the clutches of Lankesh, who kidnapped her.

The film also stars Kriti Sanon, Sunny Singh, and Devdatta Nage.
