Trump Media Suffers $238 Million Q2 Loss Despite 89% Rise in Revenue

Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), the media company linked to US President Donald Trump, has reported a net loss of $238 million for the April to June quarter of 2026.

The company earned just $1.7 million in revenue during the second quarter, even though its revenue increased by 89 per cent compared with the same quarter last year. The latest figures show that TMTG continues to face significant financial challenges despite expanding into several new business areas.

Digital Assets Account for Major Share of Losses

According to TMTG’s latest filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), unrealised losses related to digital assets, pledged digital assets and equity securities had a major impact on the company’s quarterly results.

The company reported $190.4 million in unrealised losses from these assets.

TMTG also recorded $11.7 million in accreted interest. This refers to interest that has not been paid but is instead added to the principal amount. The company reported another $8.1 million in stock-based compensation.

These expenses and investment-related losses pushed the company’s overall quarterly loss much higher than its revenue.

TMTG Earns Most Revenue From Advertising

TMTG’s revenue during the quarter came almost entirely from its media-related businesses.

Advertising generated approximately $1.43 million, making it the biggest source of revenue for the company. Subscriptions contributed another $179,500.

Although the company managed to increase its revenue significantly on a year-on-year basis, the overall figure remained small compared with its reported losses.

The situation becomes even more notable when the company’s half-year performance is considered. TMTG recorded a net loss of $644 million during the first six months of 2026, while its total revenue stood at just $2.5 million.

DJT Shares Drop 8 Per Cent

The company’s financial performance also had an impact on its stock.

TMTG trades on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol DJT. Its shares fell by 8 per cent by the end of Monday’s trading session following the release of the financial results.

The company’s main businesses include Truth Social, Truth+ and Truth.Fi. Truth Social is the social media platform associated with Trump, while Truth+ operates as a video streaming service and Truth.Fi focuses on financial technology.

Trump Media Expands Beyond Social Media

TMTG has been trying to broaden its business operations beyond its existing media platforms.

The company has moved into cryptocurrency and has also launched Truth API, a market intelligence service that became available on August 1.

Truth API gives investors faster access to posts published on Truth Social. This is particularly significant because Trump frequently uses the platform to comment on major policy matters, including tariffs and the US-Israel war on Iran.

The service has already attracted paying customers. TMTG interim CEO Kevin McGurn said during Monday’s earnings call that 10 companies had signed up for Truth API.

According to the company, customers are paying between $60,000 and $100,000 per month for access to the service.

However, the platform has also raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest because Trump’s social media posts can influence financial markets.

Truth Social Faces Competition From Bigger Platforms

Truth Social continues to remain much smaller than established social media platforms such as X and Facebook.

Data cited by The New York Times from online traffic tracking company Similarweb showed that visits to Truth Social in July were more than one-third lower than during the same period last year.

The latest results underline the financial pressure facing TMTG as it attempts to build new revenue streams across media, technology, cryptocurrency and financial services.

Despite expanding into new sectors and recording higher quarterly revenue, the company continues to report substantial losses, with its first-half deficit reaching $644 million in 2026.
