Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 is ruling the box office. The film co-starring Tabu and Akshaye Khanna collected ₹9.55 crore net on day six of its release, taking its domestic box office collection to ₹96 crore net. As per trade analysts, Drishyam 2 will cross the ₹100-crore mark on Thursday.

The movie is directed by Abhishek Pathak, and also stars Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta, and Saurabh Shukla. On Thursday, sharing the day-wise collections of Drishyam 2, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh said the movie would soon become the fifth Hindi film to do business of ₹100 crores in India this year. He tweeted, “Drishyam 2 is in no mood to slow down on day 6… will swim past ₹100 crores today, day 7 (Thursday). Fifth [outright] Hindi film to hit a century ( ₹100 crores) in 2022. Friday ₹15.38 crore, Saturday ₹21.59 crore, Sunday ₹27.17 crores, Monday ₹11.87 crore, Tuesday ₹10.48 crore, Wednesday ₹9.55 crore. Total: ₹96.04 cr. India biz (business).”

Notably, the film saw the second biggest opening for Bollywood in 2022, after it earned ₹15.38 crore at the domestic box office on its day 1. It had hit the opening day collection of Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu. The film earned ₹15 crore net in India after it was released last month, making it the best opener for Akshay this year. Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra – Part One: Shiva, which was released on September 9, saw the best opening for a Hindi original film in 2022.

Piloted by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 2 follows the mysterious story of Vijay Salgaonkar (played by Ajay Devgn) and his family. In the film, Tabu reprised her role as Meera Deshmukh, Inspector General of Police. The film was released on November 18.
