Controversial Alert! Shehnaaz Gill Faces Flak for Supporting Sajid Khan on Big Boss Season 16

India’s most controversial reality show is back on television with its 16th season. The first episode of Big Boss Season 16 premiered on Saturday, October 1. Recently, there has been a lot of buzz around the contestants of the show. Sajid Khan’s entry into the Big Boss house as a contestant of the show has left the netizens in shock. According to sources, Sajid Khan can potentially be seen as one of the most controversial contestants on the Big Boss show this season.

The filmmaker has been living a low-key life for the last four years. In 2018, Sajid Khan was accused of sexual misconduct by various noted actresses of the Bollywood industry, including Saloni Chopra and Manadana Karimi, during the ‘MeToo’ movement where the women of the industry came out and revolted against the sexual exploitation that has been a part of the entertainment industry since decades in the façade of ‘casting couch’.

In response to all the allegations of sexual misconduct made by various actresses against the filmmaker, Sajid Khan, the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) in 2018 ‘blacklisted’ him as a director. Sajid Khan, who has recently participated in Big Boss Season 16 as a contestant, opened up about his unfortunate dismissal from the industry as a filmmaker, mentioned surviving his ‘No-work’ low-key phase. The filmmaker also revealed that he has been sitting at home for the past four years. Responding to what made Sajid Khan participate in BB16 as a contestant, the banned filmmaker said, “I have been sitting at home without any work for the past four years, so when the Colors team and the makers of Big Boss approached me, I saw it as a good opportunity and instantly said yes.”

The previous contestant of the show, Shehnaaz Kaur Gill, was openly seen supporting Sajid Khan during the premier of the show. The actress and singer supported Sajid Khan virtually through a video message that was screened during the episode. In the video, Shehnaaz was clearly heard saying “Hey, Sajid! Congratulations on being on the big boss show! I’m really happy for you. I hope you keep entertaining people in the show just like all your scripts. Please know that you’re there to entertain people. Don’t get indulged in any fights. Stay real in the show and I will support you till the end of it. All the best.”

The supporting video of Shehnaaz Gill has been facing a brutal backlash from the netizens. Although Shehnaaz is one of the most loved contestants in the history of Big Boss, the actress is still facing major flak from netizens for supporting a filmmaker who had been earlier pressed with charges of sexual misconduct. People have also been blaming Salman Khan and the makers of the show for defending the alleged ‘MeToo’ offender, Sajid Khan.

The filmmaker was all hearts after Shehnaaz’s video and mentioned that he shares a strong connection with Shehnaaz Gill and she is like a younger sister to him. The filmmaker also revealed that he would soon be working with Shehnaaz Gill on a project.
