MK Stalin Announces a Rs 1 Crore Prize for Indian Chess Olympiad Teams

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced in Chennai on Wednesday that the India-B and A-teams Women would each receive a cash prize of Rs 1 crore for winning bronze medals in the FIDE 44th Chess Olympiad. The Tamil Nadu government successfully hosted an international indoor sports event, bringing laurels from around the world, according to Stalin.
The FIDE Chess Olympiad took place in Mamallapuram, near Chennai, from July 28 to August 9. The India ‘B’ team finished third in the Open section, while the India ‘A’ women’s team finished third in the Olympiad on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Chief Minister expressed his delight at the two teams’ medals, saying they had brought honour to the country.
He stated that the Tamil Nadu government would award Rs 1 crore to each of the two winning teams.
