Twitter vs Musk; Elon musk to get 90 mins- 1st hearing on july 19

To compel Musk to finalise a $44 billion (approximately Rs. 3.5 lakh crore) takeover agreement, Twitter has filed a lawsuit in Delaware’s Court of Chancery.

According to a court document, a judge will hear arguments on Tuesday, July 19, on Twitter’s request for a September trial in its lawsuit attempting to hold Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, to his $44 billion (approximately Rs. 3.5 lakh crore) agreement for the social media site.

The Delaware Court of Chancery’s chancellor, Kathaleen McCormick, scheduled a 90-minute hearing in Wilmington that would start at 11 a.m. ET (8 p.m. IST).

As was previously reported, Twitter has filed a lawsuit against Musk in Delaware’s Court of Chancery to compel him to carry out a $44 billion acquisition agreement struck in April.

In another development, it was revealed that Twitter’s lawsuit, which attempts to hold Elon Musk to his promise to acquire the social media network for $44 billion, would be overseen by the first female chief judge on Delaware’s renowned business court, according to court documents.

After Andre Bouchard retired from the Court of Chancery, a preferred forum for significant business disputes, McCormick assumed the position of chancellor, or head judge, the following year.

One of McCormick’s first choices will be whether to grant Twitter’s request for a four-day trial in September. This is a very short window of time for such a complex issue.

What is at issue in the lawsuit?

The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, promised to acquire Twitter for $54.20 per share (approximately Rs. 4,000), but he now wants to break the deal. He asserts that the business has broken the terms of the agreement by letting go of key executives and letting go of a sizable number of employees, and that the business has failed to disclose sufficient information regarding the amount of phoney or “spam bot” Twitter accounts.
