American Rapper Lil TJay Shot Multiple Times In New Jersey
American rapper Lil TJay was one of two persons shot early Wednesday morning in New Jersey, just weeks after predicting that it was going to be a ‘wonderful summer.’ The Bronx-born rapper was struck many times at The Promenade in Edgewater, according to mypost.com. According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, officers responded to reports of shots fired near the scene shortly after midnight.
When they arrived, they discovered Lil TJay, actual name Tione Marriot, 21, with several gunshot wounds. Antoine Boyd, 22, was also discovered with a single gunshot wound, according to authorities. Both were sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Officials did not reveal their situations, but tmz.com stated that Lil TJay had emergency surgery. According to officials, the incident occurred when Mohamed Konate attempted to rob Lil TJay, Boyd, and a third person the rapper was with, 24-year-old Jeffrey Valdez. Both Valdez and Boyd were carrying an illegal firearm at the time.
Later that day, investigators from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New York Police Department apprehended Konate. According to nypost.com, his extradition to New Jersey is now pending. He’s been charged with three charges of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery, two counts of unauthorised possession of a firearm, and fourth-degree aggravated assault.
Boyd and Valdez were both charged with unauthorised possession of a firearm and were being detained at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack awaiting an initial hearing. Lil Tjay is a Bronx-born rapper who has over 7 million Instagram followers. He came to prominence on Soundcloud and was signed by Columbia Records in 2018. His debut album, ‘True 2 Myself,’ landed at No. 5 on the US Billboard 200.
In an Instagram post just two weeks before he was shot, the rapper posted a video of himself dancing shirtless with a big chain with the caption “dis gon be a good summer.”
