Kamal Haasan led Vikram has a Bumper opening at Tamil Nadu box office!!

Vikram, directed by Lokesh Kangaraj and starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi, and Fahadh Faasil, has had a strong start at the Tamil Nadu box office, with occupancy hovering around 70-75 percent in the morning shows. This year’s opening occupancies are fourth best behind Beast, KGF Chapter 2 and Valimai, yet it is much ahead of KGF 2 in terms of amount of business. The opening is fantastic all around, but the larger cities, such as Chennai, Coimbatore, and Trichy, are outperformers, with occupancy rates approaching 90%.

The film has a good capacity of Rs. 25 crores and has been released in roughly 550 cinemas across the state. With this start, a Rs. 20 crore opening day is possible, but it will depend on how the market moves throughout the day. For the time being, an opening day of Rs. 18-19 crores seems extremely feasible, which would be well ahead of Kamal Haasan’s career high.
Outside of Tamil Nadu, the opening runs from Excellent to Very Good in Kerala and Karnataka, and Excellent to Very Good in Telugu regions. The Hindi dubbed version of the film did not do well at the box office, but the Tamil version did well in North India. The film could wind up grossing around Rs. 30 crores on its first day in India.
In his decades-long career, Kamal Haasan has delivered numerous box office hits and openers, but one has been absent for quite some time. His last big hit was Dasavathaaram in 2008, and with Vikram, he’s proven his mettle once more.
