DEV BHOOMI-UTTARAKHAND
Active, live, soulful, and vibrant; all these are emotions which I suitably associate with travelling! Every time I visit a place, I associate a deep bond with it. But, as soon as the bus, with a whistle, gets on wheels, the bond often seems left behind in the trap of the places, to which I have associated a deep feeling just a moment ago. And exactly the same is happening to me when I am ready to kick a new journey off with a cup of tea in front of me. With the last sip of tea, I am absolutely ready with my bag pack, camera, sleeping bag and those tents.
ACCIDENTAL HIT
This time the kid inside me wanted to rove into the sea waves! But, it is when my eyes float inadvertently on these tents and those sleeping bags that I get stringed towards mountains and rivers. So, now, I flip my destination, earlier being a beach, to a place harboring both the beauty of hills and the serenity of rivers!
A FRESH START
With the end of this volatile and random thought, I have reached the bus stand, where with the immediate glimpses of the buses towards Uttarakhand, I have, certainly, locked my new destination in HARIDWAR, my next port of call! Yes, Haridwar it is!
HYPNOTIZING HILLS
Eventually, as the bus takes me across the curvy twists & turns of the roads, which lie in the lap of sky-high hills and lush-green flora, it gets more confirmed that this accidental voyage is the Trip to Hills! It is not for the first time that I am visiting Haridwar, though. But, my curiosity remains fresh as ever. This may be because, perhaps, I have not experienced Haridwar as close as I really wanted to.
DOORWAY TO DIVINITY
Haridwar has always been known as one of the selected religious places of India. The ancient belief is that it is one of the four places where the drops of nectar fell during the time of sea churning. However, ‘Haridwar’ literally means, “Hari ka Dwar” meaning “the door to God”. It is also renowned with the name of Mayapuri and Mokshdwar. A total of five major pilgrimage places of Uttarakhand, altogether known as Panch Tirth, are situated here. These are Har Ki Pauri, Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Ghat and Kankhal. The Ganga Aarti that takes place on “Har ki Pauri” holds great importance for the Hindus. Haridwar, is again the gateway for the holy “Chardhams”, Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri.
FEEL MESMERIZED RIGHT AWAY
We are now standing at a place that will not only open the doors to Haridwar but also to entire lush-green Uttarakhand. So get yourself ready to unveil the sparkling heaven-like experience each time you open the vivid doors to the numerous trips. And this is the only door that would initiate our mesmerizing “face of” with Mother Nature! This is the charm of this place. Therefore, the first stop in the journey of Uttarakhand is here. Yes,
Haridwar–an entry that would make you feel to never return back!
